Hi Anne
Sorry it took so long to get back to you-I haven't checked this site for a while. I think I can answer some of your questions. There are lots of shady sites, the middle section of the campground seems to have a lot of treed sites. The sites in the last section have variable shade and are the most private. There are showers in the 1st and last sections of the campgrounds, which are just fine, but if you want a hot water shower, set out some gallon water jugs in the sun for a few hours, then string up a couple of towels and you've got your own hot shower. You can get that water from the large holding tanks in the campground-but I would use that for washing only. Drink only bottled water.
For food, resturants are not within walking distance-see exceptions below!. You can catch a publico (taxi) for 2$ each way, per person from approx. 10am-7pm, before or after that you can start walking and usually some kind soul will give you a lift-just be careul the road is very curvy and the sun hot! The exceptions: There is a little cabana in front of Villa Flamenco on the beach, which serves hamburgers and chicken sandwhiches but it's hours ?, sometimes it was open, sometimes not. Also, almost every day from around 1-4 you can buy lunch from Edward's pizza and I would highly recommend his chicken sandwiches. He sets up shop right at the entrance of the campground- steps away from the beach. A woman is also usually there selling excellent puerto rican comfort food from a booth. ------- April
