Hi Dennis,
I must say the times I have been to the island with my companion John, there has been little surf. I didnt find any great shells either, and I love shell hunting. I dont mean I didn't love the island cause I do. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been to (and I am a flight attendant) I also think it would be a great place for you and your wife, but I think the kids might be bored unless they love to snorkle, sail or possibly fly a kite. If you go at the time of the year when the turtles are nesting, that would be great. Also there is an area where butterflies cover the entire area. It is very laid back, nothing is fast paced like the kids of that age are use to. Maybe I'm wrong, but I did't see much surf or shells. Please someone tell Dennis that there is great surf and shells and I just didnt get to see them. Hope you have a great time, you will fall in love all over again. Cindy
