Re: Hurricane Season
Culebra, Puerto Rico

It all depends on the weather gods. You may have heard that this hurricane season is predicted to be a pretty bad one (like last year). If you are able to purchase trip insurance that covers you in the event of an "Act of God", then you should be okay. Just don't get yourself all phsyched up to go, and then put yourself in danger. If you purchase insurance, and then have the attitude that all will work out if it's meant to be, then it probably will. Last September, Tropical Storm Jeanne ("only" a tropical storm, mind you) POUNDED Puerto Rico, including Culebra, by sitting on the islands for several days without moving on. It doesn't take a full force hurricane to ruin a trip. Take (or borrow on island in the various gift shops) lots of books and be prepared for the worst. FWIW, now that I've painted such an un-rosy picture for you, our first trip to Culebra was in late October several years ago, and the weather couldn't have been nicer. You just never know.

Happy Diving!
Debbie
