My husband and I stayed at Tamarindo last fall and kayaked over to Luis Pena. At the time there was a drop off point of several kayaks lined up about a minute or two down the road from Tamarindo Estates. We rented from Jim Petersen (Ocean Safaris). Jim and his wife Barbara run Barbara Rosa's Restaurant. We had the kayak for the whole day. I believe it cost between $45 and $60 for a two person kayak. The day we kayaked the water was very peaceful and calm. We were very lucky because I hear it can be very tricky at times to navigate the channel between Luis Pena and Tamarindo. Luis Pena is gorgeous and virtually deserted! Snorkeling is awesome! You'll love it!!!
