ok, i dug all over for this and you have 2 very differenc choices. the more moderate/nice hotel is Hotel Milabno, where the smallest room is $100 (tax included). The do have a 2 night minimum but I bet they'll take you anyway if they have lots of avaiability: www.hotelmilanopr.com.
Your next choice would be like $40-50/night, maybe less, at the san juan guest house, next door literally to the Hotel Milano (so the location is right in old san juan, cannot be better). at the old san juan guest house, however, they only speak spanish and you'd have to call to reserve, as they don't have a web presence. 303 Fortaleza Guest House. tel. 787-721-7112.
