We had no luck getting fresh fish on either island. We went to this fisherman's co-op several times, due to the recent spate of weather (rain and high seas) no one was fishing according to the woman who worked there. We were very disappointed as this was something we were highly looking forward to (even though we live in Maine). She did have some in the freezer, but they were whole fish, my husband knows how to fillet, but hadn't brought his fillet knife with him (and if you do, obviously put that in checked baggage). We didn't have any luck at the local fisherman's place on Vieques either. :(
