Hola Trent! The fruit is awesome! Some of these were the fruit the tainos (native Puertorricans) would grow and eat: mamey: looks lika a gigantic kiwi and you can eat it raw, smoothie or ice cream, guanabana (soursop) nice and refreshing; papaya, guayaba (guava) need to eat this one when it's nice and ripe, very sweet. It's also made into a paste, jelly really good. Mangoes, I'm not sure when they're in season, nice and sweet, also made into a paste and jelly. Others are fruit you can find in the US oranges, grapefruit, lemons both green and yellow. There are chironjas, cross between grapefruit and orange, limonjas, cross between lemon and grapefruit and naranja cross between lemon and orange. Many kinds of avocados, big size, not the little Hass kind you see in the US. You will probably arrive in quenepa season, little and round covered by a peel, fleshy and sweet inside. Parcha (passion fruit), acerola (a type of cherry), tamarindo (tamarind), carambola (starfruit), jobo (these are smelly), a couple variety of guineo (banana) and I'm probably missing a few. The great thing about PR fruit is you can try them raw and other ways. Puertorricans are so creative in the culinary arts that you can find many of these in ice cream, jellies, paste, juices and even cooked with meats, poultry and fish. And that is just fruit! LOL!! Make sure your clothes have elastic or drawstring, you're probably going to come back with a few pounds. Happy travels! J
