elope to Culebra

Hi I have been to Culebra and love it! I have also found a man I love...we want to be married on the island and stay for a week or so...we hope to do this in the next few wks/month. I am looking for some suggestions and advice. I think we will do our blood test here and bring them with us but any other suggestions...anyone know of a light hearted and charming JP on the island? or maybe even a rouge priest (we are both non-practicing catholics in our mid 40"s) It will just be the will just be the two of us...we are simple people who love the surf and sun. Thanks!

I am not sure of all the laws regarding marriage in Puerto Rico, but the Vieques forum has some basics. I would read that, as it probably applies to Culebra as well. Here's the link.

My husband and I eloped on Flamenco Beach in Culebra 4 years ago and it was perfect. I highly recommend it! We were there a few days ahead of time and got all the necessary tests and licenses done in Fajardo prior to heading over to Culebra. We used a jude out of Fajardo (there aren't any in Culebra) named Jose Millan. I can get you his phone number if you are interested. You will need two witnesses to sign your paperwork after your marriage. We were eloping, so we didn't have anyone there to do this so when my husband met with the judge prior to our wedding day he was informed of this. So, we paid for the judge and two of his friends to fly from fajardo to Culebra for the wedding and his friends acted as our witnesses and also as our photographer and videographer. $50 for a wedding photographer is a deal!! Thanks so much for your reply! Yes, I would love the # for the judge (just e-mail me @runbikegrrl@netzero.com)! We plan to get our blood work done in VT (that's where we are from) and I will do the paperwork via fax prior to travel.....hopefully. The town/city hall in Culebra must be where you request and file it??? Or do I need to do that on the mainland?? Also we know a few people there who very likely can be witnesses....wow I hope I can pull this together quickly
