Do not take your cars into Culebra, unless you are going to live there.
Rent a car, you do not know what the cargo ferry is all about.
It is like trying to fly a kite without wind.

As I've said before in previous posts, I wouldn't go to Culebra without renting a car. It was a breeze for us to rent in SJU, drive to Fajardo, and get on the ferry with a small rental--all three times we've gone!

Not sure why everyone thinks it's so hard to get a car on the island, but it is not. I'm living proof of that!

I thought 'main island' rental agencies did not cover cars when brought to Culebra. Cars are available for rent in Culebra. IF you need them. They also provide you with Culebra driving instruction, (which is not like driving in Puerto Rico). I often see these strange rental vehicles driving the wrong way on one way streets in town and find a distaste for visitors who refuse to patronize local business. Getting a car on the ferry is not always easy(Although three times out of three are good), sometimes you are forced to wait untill the 3am ferry, which for most people seeking a relaxing time at the beach, it is not worth is. Check out Carlos Jeep, or the Scooters at the airport! and enjoy your trip!
