Any opinions on bike rentals? We hope to use the bikes quite a bit-over to Zoni, etc. Whose bikes are in the best condition? Should we reserve ahead?

Just a word to the wise: the road to Zoni has quite a few steep hills and is about 5 miles.

The only other consideration, then, is what you take with you. My proclivity for cold Presidentes and hauling my snorkling gear mandates a vehicle ;- )).

Way to Zoni, is way steep, even vehicles shout in protest, and even do not work if they are not in good condition.
However, when on a bike you can always turn to your feet, and carry the bike, all the way up or down the steep hill.
I suggest you carry a good portion of water, and/or Gatorade.

Jody,
If you are in training for a tri there won't be a problem. There are only a few steep hills and if you can't make it good luck on your tri. It's so funny to watch people try to get their scooters up the hill from Zoni and wipe out because the scooters aren't powerful enough. I saw two riders this past spring drop them. Bikers are usually walking their bikes. I know you will not have a problem but the bike condition is a concern. It is not a bad ride at all.

Wow, I had no problems at all with my scooter going to and from Zoni beach.
Those must have been old scooters or some large people. I only weigh 135 lbs. though.
The Road coming down the last hill going to Zoni is not in the best shape and I would expect cars and some people on scooters to have issues with that.
