Tamarindo estates had been mentioned as having great snorkeling. Is it possible to access their beach if you are not a guest there? ~~Wendy

Yes... you take the road to tamarindo, and you are there.
Be sure you got the rubber boots, because the beach is kind of rocky, but for a nice snorkel it is OK.
Have a bottle or two of drinking water, and if you are thinking of walking, maybe more, plus it may be a long walk from Dewey.

We just stayed there last week. It is exactly 2 miles from the airport as I ran it every morning. When you pull in the road to Tamarindo, you will see two dirt pull offs on the right. One of them had a bunch of kayaks stored there. You are at the reef. Swim way to the left and you will see Tamarindo estates. This is where the best snorkeling is. The toughest thing to watch for are the black sea urchins. Pretty darn sharp. Lots of nice coral and little fishies.
