Is it better or worse?

What could be better?

Enjoy Culebra!

Mike, I vote to please switch it back. I find it very difficult to read this way.

It was yellow on blue. What would be the best mixture?

different font?

I am trying to make it as readable as possible across many platforms. Soon the rollout for mobile and tablets is going to happen.

This is part of that ...

Enjoy Culebra!

If you want to keep the brown on yellow, it will be a lot less blaring if you change the background from the saturated yellow #ffff99 to #ffffdd or even #ffffee, which are closer to ivory. There's a good reason why most paper is white or very close to it.

If you want to go back to yellow on blue, it would be better to make the blue background darker; closer to navy. Aqua/teal is just too intermediate a color to successfully put text on top of. But with a dark blue background you would have to override the link, link hover, and link visited text colors, because blue and purple get lost. Or instead of darker, just go with a lighter background, like #ddeeff. Light backgrounds are usually easier for users to read and less problematic for developers than dark backgrounds.

And IMO it would be really nice to switch away from the Comic Sans. There are lots of good alternatives on Google Fonts that are easy to use and retain the informal vibe without the baggage that comes with Comic Sans. Tho I'd warn against using decorative fonts in body copy or small point sizes, because it's strenuous to read. And why is everything in the forum bold?

YMMV, but you asked! I hope that's helpful.

Thank guys, you have indeed be helpful.

Trying to get all formatting out of old forum code and once that is accomplished (combing through thousands fo lines of code for tags (no simple search replace, I am afraid) I will listen and make the whole thing easier to read on all devices!

Will update once that is under way!!!

comic sans - sort of legacy ... I am not sure I like it anymore either, but it does age the site, which I kind of like ;)

Enjoy Culebra!

The only qualm I have with the new look is the "new" tag is the same yellow color as the "subject line". Red was better, but anything but the same color would be good.

Peace out
Herb
