Ferry advice
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Coming to Culebra on Sunday Sept. 2nd. I've been reading a lot of stories about people having to wait and wait for ferry tickets..as early as 4AM. Does anyone think this would be the case for September? We are spending Sat night in Old San Juan, then driving to the ferry Sunday Morning. Since this is vacation, leaving the hotel at 3AM doesn't sound like fun or something I'd like to do. Would spending the night in Fajardo then trying for ferry tickets Monday morning make more sense? Flying isn't really an option for us.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

I would not think it would be busy on a Sunday going to Culebra. Plus they have the new ferries so I think many of those older posts may not be applicable anymore. And the kids are back in school so you should be fine.

Good afternoon,
Actually, Sun. ferries can be some of the busiest. Our Aug. has been busier than July & Sept. 2 is Labor Day weekend-no?

I don't particularly like to fly, but it is BY FAR the better way to go.

Best,
Terrie

Thank you both for the responses. I think what we might do is just take our time getting to Fajardo on Sunday and enjoy the day. Neither of us want to wake up early and rush to make it....if we get the ferry, great. If not, spend the night in Fajardo and check out the Bio Bay. Then try for the ferry again on Monday morning.

My worry about the plane is weight. I'm built like an NFL lineman, so I'm sure I'll have to pay for 2 seats. Which is fine, but I just don't want to go through the embarrassment of it.
