Fly Fishing
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hey All! Coming to Culebra in a few weeks and I have done some research into the Bone Fish and the Fly Fishing situation and from what I can tell it is mostly done through a guide. However, if I were to have my own rod, alot of ambition, and an understanding girlfriend, is there a way I can fly fish on my own by just wading out somewhere? If so, where/how to get the flats? I admit I know nothing aside from the snorkeling information so this is a bit of a hope that I can just find a spot to catch some fish.

Thanks! And let me know any tips! I am so excited for our trip.

-Blake

There are some nautical charts available that might be helpful, since the depths are marked. Offhand, you might get over to Dakity, and I believe there are shallows in Manglar bay. Might not be a bonefish for miles, for all I know about the matter.

Seek out Chris Goldmark when you arrive. He is the local guide, but if you guy him a beer or two, he'll probably give you a tip or two.

Happy Diving!
