Scuba Gear Rental **BC, Reg**
Culebra, Puerto Rico

So, I will arrive in Culebra 2/3/11 and already have my scuba bag packed. I was reading some various blogs and forums because I can hardly wait the 13 days til departure from 0 degree Iowa(not that anyone is counting). I came across a blog stating that VAL has a 25 pound baggage limit so I checked their site and much to my disappointment, confirmed the limit. There is no way my BC and reg can come along and still be under 25 pounds.

My whole family is coming but only my daughter and I dive. So I had planned on just renting tanks and doing a little shore diving each day so we wouldn't be seperated for half a day.

Does anyone know if there is any place that someone can rent BC, Reg and tanks without doing a trip? Or if it is possible to ship this to the guest house in advance?

You can rent all equipment at Culebra Divers at the ferry dock. You can also bring your gear along; you will just have to pay extra for any weight over 25 pounds/person.

Happy Diving!

Hi Darrin, we too are divers. We always bring everything but weights and tanks. We just have to pay the overage for luggage. We have dove on Vieques and Culebra in the past. However, last year on Vieques, we saw a woman who, on both her dives, used rental equipment that was defective. They changed out her regs and the substitute was also defective. This ruined the dives for both she and her daughter. We feel much better taking our own equipment. We are much more familiar with our own BC, Reg and computers. We know we just had it serviced prior to our trip. Have a great time diving on Culebra!! We will be returning for 2 weeks in June.
