Taking a rental car on the ferry
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We are heading to PR next week. Staying one night @ El Conquistador and then to Culebra for 5 days. Had planned to rent a car in San Juan and take it on the Ferry to Culebra. Read somewhere that this might not be a good idea. Can someone offer advice about this plan, and offer a Plan B? Thanks!

Plan B: inquire w/ Conquistador about a ride from SJU to their hotel. They have a bus. If not, take a cab to hotel, will be easier than renting a car and driving. ~ same cost; less hastle; unless you enjoy driving in LA during rush hour. Also, call Jerry or Carlos or other transport vendor on Culebra to arrange for wheels (now). Not sure how you are getting back to SJU but can cab it from Fajardo if you take the ferry or cab it if you fly into Grande.

Suggestion: try to visit at least two sandy beaches. 3 to 4 a big plus.

Enjoy your vacation.

Good morning,
It is NOT usually permitted to bring a rental on the ferry for insurance purposes. Moreover, it is not recommended as priority on the cargo ferry is given to commercial vehicles and then residents.

Best,
