Flights from Fajardo and back, prices, best Airline to choose??
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I posted this under another thread but figured I would try starting it as a new thread. Here is my original post
"Just curious, under transport is says that round trip ticket from FAJARDO is about $40.00, how accurate is that pricing, and what airline from the ones listed offered that rate? Do any of you know? Or which is the better airline for your buck? Thanks in advance for the info."

Thanks
Elliott

That's about right. I think I saw Isla Nena had a flight to Fajardo.

I have flown to Culebra from San Juan International on Isla Nena Airline and it cosseted me $135 round trip, and this was from 5/14/04 to 5/08/04. The plane I flew in was an 8 passenger and one pilot single engine nice little puddle jumper the flight took 30 min. Originally I was only going to stay 3 days, I was enjoying Culebra SO much I stayed an extra day and had to pay a $15 dollar fine to change the flight.

I also flew Viequs Airline out of Fajardo back in Sept. 03 and again on 4/28/03 round trip I believe it was either $30 or $45 round trip.

The car ride from San Juan International can take any where from one to two hours depending on the traffic. I had stayed on the south side of the rain forest so I was already near Fajardo.

I took the ferry over to Culebra from Fajardo back in June of 2003 I remember we had to get there around 5:30 or 6:00 am to get in line for the tickets that went on sale at 7:00 am. for the first ferry out of Fajardo. You cannot purchase the ticket ahead of time. The cost was $2.00 one-way and took just about 2 hours. I will never do that again, my original intention was to take the ferry round trip but only took it to Culebra then flew back for $25. on Viequs Airline.

I ended up nick naming the ferry the “Vomit Vessel” everyone around me from little kids to a grown men were getting sick. NEVER AGAIN will I take the “Vomit Vessel”.

As far as the Ferries are concerned, you will not be in a "vomit vessel" if you get a 2-story ferrry, those are quite smooth...when I went to Culebra, we got a small, one story vessel from Fajardo, and it was horrible, but on the way back, we got a bigger one, and you could hardly feel the waves....as far as the charters, well, initially that's the way we were going, but it could not fit all of us...Isla nena has good prices and newer planes...good luck

Yayma - going and coming might be completely different experiences due to weather, not so much because of type of boat.

Usually the trip from Culebra to Fajardo is the smoother ride, since the prevailing winds are from the East (tradewinds).
