We stayed there our first time on Culebra. The price has gone up since then, so maybe some work has been done. Overall, the location is incredible! Great views from the "St. Thomas deck" looking out to, of course, St. Thomas. Great breezes also, which is helpful because the only main floor bedroom doesn't have a/c. There are multiple fans there, so we were always comfortable, though. The other bedroom is lower level, very dark, and quite honestly, creeped me out a little bit.

The kitchen and master bathroom are hot, with no breezes at all and no a/c, but we were there in August. Nice screened in area between kitchen and living area, but we spent most of our time on the St. Thomas deck with the breezes.

Be prepared for the road to the house. It is quite a distance from the main road and can be a read kidney buster. There were definitely times when we were coming in from a night out that we had to stop for a potty break before we began the trek from the main road to the house.

If you have any other specific questions, just let me know!

Sue

I wonder if there are two Casa de Suenos.

I don't think the house linked below looks out towards St. Thomas. St. Thomas would be behind the hill from it. It overlooks La Pela. If it's this one, I've been to a social event at this house. It's a pretty fabulous place. The views are outstanding and I would love to have just a few moments in the awesome shower! It was custom built from the ground up and I don't think it has a lower level or a screened area between the kitchen and living room. I would agree that the road is a gut buster though!

PR Fan or Sue - do you have a link to a different Casa de Suenos?

Happy Diving!

You are right Debbie---I was confusing it with another house!! So sorry about the mix up!

The reason is that my brother has stayed as Casa de Suenos twice. They were absolutely in LOVE with that house---they claimed it was half the reason they fell so in love with Culebra! It was off the rental market for a while and my sister in law said she just couldn't imagine going back to Culebra without staying there! From everthing they have said, you absolutely can't go wrong staying there, unless you really want to be closer to town. But, it is not far at all off the main road, which helps. It probably mentions it in the description, but I remember them saying you definitely had to have 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway, though I do believe it has been paved since then. Gorgeous views, great breezes and a gorgeous house---enjoy it!!

Sorry again for the mix up!! Obviously being home with two flu-infested, high fever kids has softened my brain a bit more (I know, than normal, right?)!

Hola! What an awesome place! You are getting a beautiful place to stay for a great price. The place is for 6 people, so technically, it would be $58/ person/ night which is a great price during high season. If it's only the 2 of you, it is kind of steep but, you have to take into consideration what you're paying for: great views, next to Zoni beach, nearby dock, internet hookup, phone, wonderful top of the line furnishings throughout and privacy, privacy, privacy. If you're on a budget, book somewhere else and spend it on a good meal. Let us know if you end up staying there and how it was. Happy travels! J

PR Fan - you will love it. When I was on Culebra in January, a family that we were diving with was renting it and I was SO surprised that the owner (whom I only know in passing) was renting it out. It is her dream home, but I think she doesn't spend much time on Culebra any more. When are you going? Maybe you want to invite me up for a drink? I promise not to drink it in the shower. LOL! I think I have some pictures of the interior from that party that I will try to find and e-mail to you.

Happy Diving!
Debbie
