Hi,

My family and I will be visiting Culebra April 3rd thru the 12th. I understand this is Semana Santa (holy week). Can you tell me will Culebra be overpopulated during this time? What should we expect during this time frame?

Thank you,
Jimi

We were there a few years back during that week. We decided to fly into Culebra as the Ferry was insane and there were police who were checking for various items (not that we brought any of those things) because a lot of young people spend time on Culebra Easter week. There were several restaurants that ran out of food..( we weren't upset just ordered something else)..grocery shelves were sparse..again..due to so many extra people and all produce, meat, beverage etc has to be brought over by Ferry.
The beaches are still lovely..Flamenco being a bit crowded due to the holiday..we just went to the out lying beaches...you must hike into them..they are beautiful..you may be the only one on the beach..but you must be very careful swimming...we only waded in...but still had a great time.
It is a wonderful island and though more crowded than normal..you will find that you can adjust...Have a great time...

There is no such thing as a bad vacation. Some are just better than others.

Hola! All beaches will be crowded during Holy Week. This being because it will be the most inexpensive mode of entertainment for families and individuals, since the economy is not so good for many locals on the island. My recommendation, go to Culebra at the beginning of your vacation, if you can get on the ferry that Friday 3 spend a couple of days at Culebra and you will probably miss a big part of the crowds. Private schools are off all week (starting April 6) and public schools are off starting Wednesday, which is probably when the masses will start to arrive. Happy travels! J

Have you been to Culebra before? What might seem crowded to us and to regular visitors may not seem like that to you. Also, while I agree with Jeannie for the most part, holidays have been on the down side of crowded this year, Of course, as soon as I write that it will be crowded!

If you aren't planning on camping at the beach, the biggest crowds you'll experience will be the line for dinner at your restaurant of choice.

Save What's Left!
