Cash or Charge?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Are credit card widely accepted on the island or would it be advisable to bring a fair amount of cash? I've gotten pretty accustomed to not taking cash anywhere and I've gotten burned or wasted time trying to find an ATM.

In my experience, most of the restaurants accept cards as do two of the grocery stores (not sure about the other two, haven't tried them). However, if you buy food from a the vendors at Flamenco, better have cash. There is an ATM not far from the ferry dock at the Banco Popular.

Banco Popular: which everyone coming of the ferry hits and it can run out easily.

there is another, but contingency plans are always a good idea.

Was there a causal relationship between "stinky", "alone", and "hungover?"

you'd think, but the alone part was far more innocent, my friends were booked on an earlier flight out.

We rarely carry cash. The larger restaurants all take credit. We've always been able to hit the ATM with no problems.

Happy Diving!

Frank is real brave when he knows that due to things from chopped phone lines to screwed up access here (hence the *new* name) I didn't see this until now. Actually, what Frank really knows is I'm closed then ;) And...I don't take credit cards*...no phone, no electric, no cards.

*unless you'd like to give me yours to use for a week or so...Frank.

MJ-
I will be down in July and will drop my credit cards off at that time.
And thank you for not asking for my cash. ;-)

Frank, see you soon unless you are here? Of course I wouldn't ask for your cash; you'll need it to buy stuff from me.
