Culebra right before New Year's
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to PR in December, and want to go to Culebra somewhere around Dec. 28-31 (arriving Sunday the 28th, leaving Wednesday the 31st -- New Year's Eve). Is it difficult to get a ferry to/from Culebra on those days (does it even run on New Year's Eve)? Should I be trying to get a flight instead (from San Juan or Fajardo)? Also, does this seem like an appropriate length trip for a first time visitor to Culebra?

Any feedback would be appreciated.. thanks in advance!

Eric

you beg the question: "Why Leave Culebra on NYE???"

NYE anywhere is usu. such crap but the party at the ferry dock is a hoot/kick.

unless there's something fantastic in SJ, you'll be missing something. something really cool.

New Yorkers decamp for PR NYE.

Duly noted. Is Culebra, in fact, the place to be for NYE?

If so, I'm willing to amend my itinerary for that week.

Eric, it's a small town and I guess it's kinda modest, but it's just so genuine. The ferry plaza fills up with everyone who can attend (dressed in their party finest), a couple of bands play, some fireworks go off, it may not be a chuckle-fest but definitely grin fodder.

I've had 3 good New Year's:

1. I threw myself in a crumbly farmhouse in the middle of nowhere.
2. in NYC when we wangled invites to an SNL producers party on the LES.
and 3. Culebra - by far the best.

(a close 4th was at an almost abandoned mansion on Portland Place back home)

Culebra is by far the best NYE you can have! Make sure you come months in advance, so you get to know everybody and can just walk from table to table ....

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael
