Mort brought up an interesting question.

I suppose other livestock are included.

I've done a tremendous amount of research on this. There is no official stance. It's adjudicated on an animal-by-animal basis.

When the weather is rough, they will not allow llamas because they tend to yak. Or maybe they don't allow yaks. Damn, I can't remember.

But on a normal weather day, I've been assured that it's okay to show up with as many animals as you wish. The ferry crew LOVES animals, the larger the better. In fact, they often give them priority over Americans.

The officials who I talked to hedged a bit about small animals, though. One told me (off the record only) that if you bring gerbils, count them before you leave.
