Rental Vehicles
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We are considering taking the ferry over when we come in July. It will be a Saturday. Our flight does not get in until 3:10, therefore, we would have to catch the 7P ferry. We are staying at Casa del Sol. Are the rental car agencies open this late? That is my main concern about the ferry vs flying. Would hate to be stuck at the ferry dock at night with no wheels!! We, of course will reserve the rental long before our planned arrival. TIA.

Vicki,
Also, try Jerry's Jeeps- 787-742-0587 or 0526. He is an outstanding man..gives you a map and explanation of the island which is very helpful. We have used him for years and he is very easy to work with and though his jeeps are a bit older than some others on the island he is reliable. He also will deliver a jeep to your destination or meet you at the airport or ferry dock with your car. He is a delight!
Also, Vicki, I think I read a post from you sometime ago inquiring about Casa Jardin. That is where we stay. Do you go often? Where do you stay?

Thanks Tricia. I considered renting Casa Jardin, but we decided to get into a more secluded area and have chosen Casa del Sol.  We were a little concerned about Casa Jardin, as I read somewhere that it was across from a school. I know on Vieques, the summer we visited there, that all the school grounds were full of kids playing on the playground equipment and having fun. We are looking for peace and quiet. We have never been to Culebra before, but did take a powercat out of Fajardo and snorkeled and hung out on Culebrita and snorked at Luis Pena'. I am looking so forward to exploring Culebra for a week and then spending another week on Vieques. When are you going back??

Vicki,
We are on the island from Feb. 7 to the 16th. When we originally rented at Casa Jardin there was an empty lot there. Yes, there is a school there now and I, too, am a bit concerned about the noise. It was always peaceful in the beautiful gardens that Bob and Joann have there. We will see. Hopefully we won't be around much during the day when school is in session..I am with 6th graders all the time so the peace and quiet will be welcomed.
I see you are from Tn. where abouts. I am from northeast Pa.

When do you go to Culebra

I live in SW TN between Memphis and Nashville. We will be on Culebra July 19-26 and Vieques July 26-Aug 2. You are going to beat me. Be sure and write a trip report. I love living vicariously through others!! On Vieques, even if school was not in session, tons on kids congregated there and played basketball, on the playground, etc. Hope it will be nice and quiet with you.
