Any suggestions on the best places for happy hour? It seems to me that there was a drumming thing at Mamacitas (we missed) last time. We'll be there next week!! Can't wait. ~~Wendy

Wendy

The drum circle is later in the evening. My take on happy hour is that it is wherever two or more people gather with cocktails in the late afternoon. Good places to do that include Mamacita's, Dinghy Dock, and while I haven't tried it yet, the new place next to El Patio, by the airport looked interesting with a Culebrense flavor.

happiest? aren't they all?

You can never go wrong if it's anywhere your friends are.

(god, I should write Hallmark cards for the sloppy drunk demographic - "no I mean it yer the besht friend I ever, bleagh. Sorry I'll clean that later. really.")

seriously, there aren't that many choices, they're all good and close enough together that you can always ditch and hit the next. I like Dinghy myself. Breezy, water, great light and it's fun to say the full name in a vaguely West African accent. Mamacita's is nice, but for me a little too bustle-y, while conversely I also find Seabourne nice, but too calm. Heather's is cool, but I wonder if it's geared a little to "up" for the market - thoughts?

Frankly the best was just at the house with the people I was traveling with, enjoying the view. Granted, we kinda forgot to eat dinner and felt like crap the next day, but who's counting?

I'd like to do a tailgate at where the road dead ends past Melones and watch the sunset. I was tooling around alone once and I'd never been down there and I ripped around the last turn and thought I was going to hit the water (esp. when the jeep hit a large rock that wedged underneath and I went into a skid - don't tell Jerry, no damage, but still) it seemed like a nice out of the way place to hang out. or dump a body.

Does Heather open before 6? I always think of happy hour as starting at 5, if not earlier ;-).

Doug,

We know how you are and Lily's doesn't open early enough for some people. That's why there are refrigerators in your rooms. ;)

Conga night is Saturday at Mamacita's. 9pm or later. (NOT a drum circle, but professional musicans who have been playing a traditional Rumba every Sat. night for many years.) Happy hour- Porch/Cooler time.... or dingy dock, or the Ferry dock for sunset. Coors light Rules!! Enjoy!!
