Flights from Fajardo, and boating
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi. My wife's employer is sending us to El Conquistador at the end of April, which I understand is a large resort near Fajardo. Not being the resort-y type, we're thinking of visiting Culebra. Can anyone tell me about flights? The Vieques air link site says they fly Fajardo-Culebra, but it is "on demand." Ideally, we'd like to go as early as possible on one day, and return later in the evening on the same day (since we have accomodations paid for in Fajardo). Possible? Price?

Secondly, we'd be interested in renting a boat to explore the island. Is there plenty to see and do with a rental boat? (I'd imagine the answer is YES! but I want to see what people have to say.) We'd like to snorkel, visit secluded beaches, and also have the option of pulling up to a restaurant for drinks/food. Is this all possible to do by boat?

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hi: I just booked one-way tix on Air Flamenco - Culebra to Fajardo. They are operating 2 scheduled flights the day we're traveling, but sometimes do 3. One way is $27. Call or e-mail them.

We booked Fajrdo - Culebra RT through Air Flamenco, $54/person RT. Like Joan said, they have several flights available during the day, i would call asap so you can pick good times. I think the earliest we can find was 10:30am.

I think it's a great idea except transport off the island is limited at the end of the day. go, but have a contingency plan in mind. if her job is paying the bill for el C - who cares if you're really in it or not? a night on Culebra doesn't have to be expensive and you'll have a really good shower to return to.

my point is that on a day trip sometimes things don't go as scheduled and if you try to shave minutes, you will most likely be disappointed.

but go. why the heck not!

I second Richard's opinion - hedge your bets, you might want to stay after 4pm ..

Enjoy Culebra!

WE LOVE CULEBRA, AND 2 WEEKS WASN'T ENOUGH TO EXPLORE ALL THE TREASURES. THERE ARE A FEW RESTAURANTS YOU CAN BOAT UP TO IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE ISLAND. THE SNORKLING IS WONDERFUL! HAVE A GREAT VISIT! IF YOU ARE LIKE US, YOU'LL WANT TO COME BACK, AND COME BACK, AND COME BACK. IS THERE ANYWHERE ELSE TO VACATION BUT CULEBRA? NOT FOR US SINCE OUR FIRST TRIP!
