My girlfriend and I are heading to PR March 11-19 and are excited by the idea of camping at Flamenco Beach. It would be a great help to us if the locals or travelers who have been there recently would give us straight answers to a few questions.
1. Is it still $20/night to camp near Flamenco Beach?
2. If we didn't want to take the transit into town for groceries, can we eat at food stalls for $20/day each?
3. How many crimes have been committed against Flemenco Beach campers in the last year that you know of?
4. Is there still a reliable ferry system to Culebra from SJ?
5. Are there any places on Culebra that sell tents and other basic camping gear if we choose not to fly with our stuff?
My girlfriend and I lived in Cambodia for 3 years and travelled many times to the remote beaches of SE Asia, so we feel that Flamenco is a good fit for us. We know the value of getting info from locals and have helped out a number of travellers during our time in Cambodia and hope that there will be a few Culebra locals who are willing to give us a heads up on how to make our trip enjoyable and, most importantly, safe. Any key info that I have not covered above would also be appreciated. Thanks.
