Camping Question too
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Me again. Is the camping at Flamenco right on the beach? I mean, do I have to walk a long, long way to the beach? Little confused.

You will be literally camping on sand. Depending on what area you camp in, you might have to walk about...oh, 20 feet to get to the beach - or three feet.

yeah and what a horrendous beach you'll find after those 20 feet. It's just warm water and powder with some nice coral and mountains.

I mean who likes that kind of settimg? the sand can jam cameras BTW.

if you're into running around in the sun on a perfect beach and falling asleep within earshot of the surf, well that's your business I suppose.

Exactly, Richard. Let alone what sand does to those personal and private parts! Thanks for your honesty. (Now...which camping spot were you trying to keep people away from so you can have it?)

HA!

I do however like to spend the last night in a hotel in SJ to fully rinse the sandy bits. although last time I said to heck with it and figured I didn't have to sit next to me on the plane home...

and I did ruin a camera the first time, not knowing just how fine Flamenco sand is. be ultra diligent and invest in canned air (like keyboard cleaner) or just use disposable cameras. although forget the underwater disposables, the exposures are set for much less clear water - both I tried were entirely overexposed.

Thank you all very much for the information, you are very helpful! It's dreadfully cold in Vermont today and dreaming of being on the beach is making it even worse. Thanks again.

Hi all - I'm going to Culebra 3/16-3/25 and I will be camping on the beach.
I want to get my open dives done while down there for my NAUI certificate. Any advice on diving, or camping, or transport around the island?
