hi - my husband and i were thinking of visiting either culebra or vieques in feb for 3 days. does anyone have any input re: the differences in the islands in terms of beaches, general feel, places to stay/eat, things to do, how touristy they are? we prefer more out of the way places and are more low-budget types. any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks!

Vieques is quite a bit larger, has a few very good restaurants, good beaches, bio bay and the fort/museum. There are two towns on Vieques - Esperanza and Isabel Segunda.

Getting around on both islands is very easy.

We've enjoyed going to Vieques, although we're very partial to Culebra.

I think what drew us to Culebra was that it is much more of a small, peaceful and unbelievably friendly community. Feelings are hard to describe, but Culebra has been the right place for us. Of course, the beaches are breathtaking.

Everyone will have varying opinions. If you have time, explore both and find the best fit for you. Discovery is half of the fun. Enjoy!
