Do you NEED a car on culebra?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Staying at Club Seabourne for four nights in August. Given the small size of Culebra, I was wondering if a car rental is necessary? My girlfriend and I do want to be able to explore some of the more hidden beaches and areas of the island, but rental fees add up quickly.

Is Club Seabourne not in walking distance to beaches and/or town?

Please advise with comments and suggestions.

Regards,
Matt

Matt,

Club Seabourne is not within walking distance of town or beaches. You could hike to Punta Soldado, on a road, but it's still a good couple of miles from Seabourne. Taxis are readily available in town, but not so much outside of town unless they had a fare to come out that way. It's not like stateside, where taxis hang out at hotels waiting for fares. Basically, they do the ferry-beach run a few times a day, but other than that they can be scarce.

So, my advice to you - you need some form of transportation.

Happy Diving!
Debbie
