Hi everyone!

I'm so happy that i discovered the forum section of this website. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and insights.

This will be my first visit to PR and Culebra. A friend and i are celebrating her 30th bday! June 7 - June 10.

So I've read that insect repellent is a must. How bad is the bug situation there? I really don't want to use anything with DEET in it. I bought a natural repellent here in the states. Apparently it's from Australia where they have serious insect issues.

Any tips?

Also, we arrive in San Juan at 11:00 am. We are planning on flying directly to Culebra that very day, asap. Any suggestions? Do we have to book the flight in advance or can we just buy a ticket there that day? Which airlines do you suggest.

Hello Marilyn;

In culebra there are no problem of insect just the normal so dont worry and i recommend that you book a flight in advance with air flamenco or viquez airlink.

We will be in Culebra for our second trip the morning of June 8th! Maybe we will see you there!

As far as bugs go, the last time we were there (in August), I took my all natural repellent also. I REALLY hate DEET and didn't want to go there. Well, I bought a can of Off! our second day there. My husband didn't really have a problem, but the no-see-um's really got me. I used the whole can of Off! that week. My .02 would be to take your repellent and try it. If it doesn't work, just buy a can down there.

Last May my family and I went to Culebra, for our vacation, my husband have the idea of using the charter service from Caribbean Helicorp., to see better the island and all the beaches from the sky before we arrive, good for pictures and video, to remember, is an amazing experience. Not crowded, air conditioning, five seats.

I recommend you a Helicopter ride to Culebra, ph# 1-(787)-722-1984

From the airport, take a taxi to Isla Grande Airport.

what is the cost of "chopper ride" to culebra from isla grande ???
