All beaches on leeward side offer much. Tamarindo and melones offer opportunity for many tiny shells - often with tiny, tiny hermits living in them (so be sure not to keep them unless you know they are empty - the crabs will die for one, and they really, REALLY smell bad when that happens also. You'll have to thrown them away most likely.

After any storm that brings surge in, you'll find big (often damaged but still beautiful) conch shells on north end of melones. last year I walked there the morning after a storm and I found around 250 conch shells, many brilliantly colored< all scattered at the center points of the beach areas. I had to take photos to prove it - there were so mamy. Quite impressive.

Every year when I vsist, I swear I will not colelct any more shells, but there are always ebatufil and fascinating new ones t find. I attached two shelves in my living room just to put them on display and they are filled to overflowing now.
