Does anyone know anything about this resort?.... If so, let me know what you know please. I am currently scheduled to go to Vieques for 2 days, but if this resort is nice enough, I'll go to Culebra instead.

Hi

I just came back from Culebra 2 weeks ago and stayed at Costa Bonita. It is a beautiful resort. They are just completing it so not all the services are up and running yet. It is on a beautiful bay and the rooms are super nice and comfortable. The pool is nice and big. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone to stay. It is by far the best that I have seen in Culebra.

Hope this helps.

Calvin

"They are just completing it so not all the services are up and running yet."

The only problem is that this has been true for three years now!
LOL

In my humble opinion, anybody wishing to truly experience Culebra would be better served to look elsewhere. There are so many other housing options available, why settle for a place that is not "up and running" yet, and may never be!

Thats right in Culebra are a lot of places that you can stay. But there are
1or 2 places that are terrible but always check fisrt before you give money
you can ask in this site and they will let you know. Culebra is a wonderful place and the people love to help the turist but have the years pass they have people from outside coming to there island and putting bussines ihope thimgs never change. Goodluck!

We just returned from our first visit to Culebra and 3 nights at Costa Bonita. What you need to realize is that this is a condominium arrangement and not really a full service hotel resort. It sounds like this has been the case for sometime.

Positives: Our room which was a "junior suite" was quite nice with granite counters and tile floors. There is a large Queen bed and a Queen-size pull out couch in two rooms separated by pocket doors. There is a refrigerator (but no freezer?) as well as a microwave coffee maker (no filters or other supplies), two burner cooktop and dishes with pots and pans. Nice balcony with chairs and table as well as a decent partial view of the bay (we took the lower priced suite). Daily maid service. The pool is nice as well although neither the swim up or stand up bar were reliably open if this is important to you. People just BYOB. Others staying there over the Easter weekend were almost exclusively Puerto Ricans. Access to Zoni (great!) and Flamenco beach without a trip throug town.

Negatives: No services, not even coffee in the morning or reliable bar service which means you need to drive into town (10 minutes) or stock up at the grocer when you arrive (this was not an easy feat around Good Friday and Easter). The bathroom is not airconditioned for unclear reasons but this was not a problem at least in April. Friendly if somewhat small and confused staff.

Calvin, what was the cost per night? Is this the same Costa Bonita resort that was previously closed?

Hello:
It is true that the Villas and the Pool place aren't associated but both are currently open. The restaurant opened up last week, the pool bar is opened. Last week the "Heineken Reggata" was a success and more activities are coming up. If you have any questions please e-mail me.

What exactly are you talking about? What is the Heineken Reggata? And the pool isn't associated with what? the resort? do you mean that the villas are located seperate from the pool? let me know what activities are coming up for this week.

Um, the Heineken Regatta was held in March, not last week.

I was there in March 2005 during the Regatta, and yes, Costa Bonita was hopping, catering to the persons there for the Regatta, because they were a SPONSOR! Other than that trip, every time I've been out there, there has been no one around to show us around or answer our questions. It's a ghost town.

Happy Diving!
Debbie

My wife and I just visitied Culebra last week. We drove by Costa Banita to see what it was. It looked like a bunch of densely packed condos. Many looked like they were just being finished. It did not look like a single unit was occupied. Other than an air conditioner that was running, there was no sign of life. Not sure we saw a single car.

The restaraunt looked very nice although not apperantly open. I am not sure the place fits in with the general feel of the island. It looked like it was trying to be too perfect and high end compared to the overall very casual feel of the island. Maybe that is why it is empty, Culebra appeals to a different crowd.
