Just Returned From Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I have visited Culebra in the past, but this is the first time, I spent 4 days, 3 nights, (Feb 11 - Feb 14). Just to give everyone an idea of how our trip went...I will provide you with the pertinent information.

Note: the view from Culebra Beach Villas (CBV) was spectacular. The sand was soft has flour and very light in color. The water was crystal clear and even swimable at night (temperature) and the view of the mountains just added to picturesque scenery of Flamenco Beach.

Accommodations: We stayed at CBV. The accommodations were better than expected, but of course, it depends on the unit. Our unit (2 bdrms, 1 bath, kitchen w/ appl, dining area, lvg rm and balcony facing the beach), did have televisions, but no satellite signal. (So, no TV). Warning, the road to the villas is unpaved, and full of holes and dips.

Food: We visited the Dingy Docks, the food and drinks were excellent, and the view was spectacular. We also visited Mamacitas, and was quite disappointed with their service and menu options, especially since they are highly advertised on the Culebra websites.

Warning, Mamacitas did run out of salad, and Churasco, which meant that 1/2 of the menu was not available. I was a little disappointed with the selections of food overall, some Spanish food, (Rice, beans and tostones), but that was it.

Transportation: We did rent a Jeep Liberty from Carlos's Jeep rental. The jeep was new with little miles and was useful when driving on the road to the villas. We did tour parts of the island in the jeep. If you are not used to driving a jeep, it takes a bit of getting used to. If you are staying at Culebra

Grocery Stores: Note, some stores begin closing at 5 pm, and the latest I believe was 7pm. So it you need to purchase anything from ice, to soda, etc, get it on time.

Insects: We didn't have much of an insect problem, but did get bitten while sitting on the patio tables at Culebra Beach Villas......Take spray, just in case.

Cellphone Service: every so often we were able to get reception and make a phone call.

Overall, we will be returning next year.....Hope this helps...
