san juan vs. Fajardo ferries
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello!

My husband and I are planning a trip to culebra in February. We'll be staying close to old san juan and I haven't figured out the best way to get us to the island. Specifically, I'm wondering if its worth the time and hassle to get to Fajardo to take the ferry, or if we should just shell out the cash for the high speed ferry from San Juan, which looks like it would be a lot easier, bt a good deal more expensive. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Kristen

On our first trip to Culebra, we took a cab to Fajardo and then the ferry from there. We even fit in a hike through El Junque (the rainforrest). While this was nice, the ferry ride is nothing special, we didn't care for it actually. For some strange reason you can't eat or drink anything on the ferry?!?
We flew back and I would say it was much better. When you add the cab fare and farry fare plus the time, the plane option isn't that much more. And what a ride. We flew Air Flamenco and they were super friendly.
Of course that's just my opinion.
Either way, have a great trip.
