How is New Years Eve?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I am planning a trip on New Years Eve, December 31 to Culebra.
We are a group of 8 and thinking of taking the ferry from Fajardo and wondering what to expect at the terminal.

Should I expect a large crowd at the terminal on December 31?

I hear Culebra is very festive on New Years Eve, and looking forward to being there.

Has anyone experienced New Years Eve in Culebra?

Is there a calendar of events for the holidays?

Thank You

JJ

On New Year's Eve, I would think it would be very crowded to take the ferry. A group of 8 can charter a plane for less hassle than taking the ferry (unless you are taking the high speed ferry from San Juan).

New Year's Eve is very festive. This year will mark our third New Year's Eve on Culebra. Party at the ferry dock - bands, dancing and fireworks, and much safer than partying in the US. Don't miss Three King's Day - children's parade and all. It is quite fun to watch.

Enjoy!

If you take the Ferry, now you can buy round trip tickets in advance....that would save you time and long lines.....as an alternative you can take the High Speed Ferry from San Juan or fly from Fajardo.

This will be our 5th consecutive New Year's Eve in Culebra.....have fun and don't forget to bring suntan lotion/protection.

High speed ferry isn't running to us here in Culebra
But the other forums say that www.culebra.net/forum . Also be sure to have you accomodations before you arrive and have round trip tickets because the lines will be big and being that I rent the most properties in Culebra and we are a 95% occupied it will save many headaches on your holiday here.
-Best Regards Jason

I believe the two posters prior to Jason brought up the ferry service -- the way I read it, Jason is simply providing good information on topic.

libertydetroit - If you buy tickets for the government ferry in advance, does that mean they honor the pre-paid tickets first, i.e., persons holding tickets may advance to the front of the line to board? In the past, even those holding paid tickets (bought at the ticket booth, not on-line) have been left behind because the boarding line got cut off. Do you have any information on how this works?

Jason - I didn't know there was another rental company in Culebra. Are you new? Do you have a website? What kind of rentals do you have? Private homes or renting rooms at Mamacitas, Posada La Hamaca and the like? Thanks.

Happy Diving!
Debbie
