Travel between Vieques and Culebra on Monday morning
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi,

My wife and I will be traveling between Vieques and Culebra this Monday morning, and were wondering if anyone could offer advice on the best way to travel between the two islands. My wife prefers not to travel by plane, so we were thinking of taking the ferry, but apparently there is no direct ferry -- is the only option open to us to travel Vieques - Fajardo - Culebra? If so, is it possible to get a thru fare from Vieques to Culebra? I understand that getting a ferry ticket can be a competitive business, and that we should plan to arrive a couple of hours early to be sure of a place on board.

Many thanks

It is a very competitive business in terms of many people.
There is service between thw two islands, but only two or three days a week.
So... the only option you may have is Fajardo/Culebra/Fajardo/Vieques.
And you will loose so much time, and have such a hard time, that you'll pray for a plane.

this may, we found that the ferry between islands was discontinued. We considerd the ferry to fajardo and then to Vieques, but the schedule was a real problem and it would take forever. We booked the puddlejump over to fajardo and then on to Vieques and it was a quick, easy flight, -- we were there in no time--well worth it, even to my wife who does not like flying on s,amll planes at all...highly recommend this course of action as it maximizes your play time on both islands -- which is what the trip is usually all about...

hello...my friend and i are planning a camping trip to flamenco beach feb.2006, and staying for 3 weeks. We want to bring our large tent, 13x18', will the campsites accomodate this? also will it be crowed at that time of the year? are the toilets, showers clean? we are quiet people, and just like to "be" and read, swim and sun, so we want to stay for at least 3 weeks, maybe 4.... any advice on these ? or any other camping knowledge is welcome... would we be better to bring our own chairs, unbrella etc..or would it be cheap to rent, considering the lenght of time we would need certain items.... many thanks... teresita

The tent size should be no problem, they might put in an additional charge.
About items for rent... better inquiry very hard on that. February is a quiet month, at least, you will hardly find crazy people on the site.
To get good food, you will need publicos, or a rental car or jeep.
There is junk food at the site, lets say after 1030 <> .
My advice is that you keep monitoring this forum, looking for experienced campers at Flamenco campsite.

Enjoy your stay,
