Biobay + Culebra = possible?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I'm planning on staying at Culebra but wanted to do a Biobay tour. Is this even possible, or must I stay someplace in Vieques?

Hi Sheila - if you do a search with biobay in the topic and 60 days time, you will come up with some posts to answer your question.

Happy Diving!

If you have good money it is possible.
You see, There are no well established businesses, with clean, well equiped, good boats to do that.
If I was to do that I'll contact Casa del Mar, at Hotel Conquistador.
However, this will cost you big money.

Bio Bay is a late evening event due to need for darkness. Getting back to Culebra would be difficult and probably cost-prohibitive. Some years we "end " our trip to Culebra with a 2 day stop over in Vieques and we do the Bio Bay as part of that. It is a much easier way to go and actually Vieques is worth a few extra days if you have them to spend.

There is a bio bay on Puerto Rico near Fajardo that we visited the night before we left for Culebra. If you can spare one night, it's worth it. You take kayaks at night down a small river that leads to the bay from the ocean. Everyone carries light sticks so you can see, which makes it pretty majestic. I've heard the Bio Bay on Vieques is somewhat more spectacular, however, the one we went to was pretty incredible and worth the night stay.

I have taken the bio-bay trip in Vieques and we were told, on the trip, that Pela Bay has the same microorganisms. Does anyone know if this is true?

I know La Pela Bay in Culebra, I have stayed there for many, many years.
I have not seen any bioluminiscent organisms there.
Even these organisms may be present in the seas or P.R. the only locations that contain enough of them, are Lajas ( La Perguera ), Fajardo, and Vieques.
There is no luminiscent bay in Culebra, unless they ( bioluminiscent organisms ) have moved in the last few months.
