How is Air Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Anyone with insight on Air Culebra? I'm looking for the least stressful and time consuming way to get to Culebra and they offer charter flights directly fron San Juan International.

All small local airlines fly on demand, that is, only when a minimum of passengers are booked.
There are no schedules.
And quality is mostly the same on all of them.

I just flew into and out of Culebra with Air Culebra and was very glad I invested the few extra $s. They were great, professional and quick.

Very quick, reliable and professional. Just spent last week there and used Air Culebra. It was great for me as I was traveling alone with two small children.

We just got back from Culebra and we used Air America. Paul was waiting for us at the airport in San Juan and the trip took about 20 minutes to get to the island. This is not an on demand charter. He was there just for us. What an incredible flight. I would definitely recommend them.

I have never heard of Air America. Is it new, do you have contact information? It is easier for us to leave out of LMM than Isla Grande because we have a rental car that needs to be returned prior to going on to Culebra.

Does anyone know if either charter company flies after sunset? This could relieve some hassles I have experienced with arriving in SJU too late for any of the scheduled flights.

Thanks,
Doug

I believe that Air America only flies out of San Juan, but I'm not positive.
Their phone numbers are 787-460-7558 and 787-246-7558. They charged us $600 each way but there were 6 of us. It was well worth the money to us because we were in Culebra in 20 minutes. They also have a website...www.airamericacaribbean.com.

I've been to the website and have sent an inquiry as to whether they will fly us after dark; so far no one has written back. What time was your flight?

Thanks,
Doug

We got into San Juan around 1:00. I had heard a lot of horror stories about the landings in Culebra being pretty scary but this was one of the smoothest flights I've ever been on. I think the plane holds either 8 or 9 people. The great thing about it was that we didn't have to wait for anyone else, it was our own private flight.

I just heard from Air America and the response was: "Yes, if weather permits."

I believe my husband and I flew Air Culebra from a smaller airport near the international one. I really recommend it but just make sure your luggage isn't to heavy or they will charge you since it's such a small plane. But the flight was only like 25 mins and it was I think$80 for BOTH of us, which isn't BAD at all ONE way of course.

Have FUN!

Jaclyn,

That sounds more like Air Flamenco or Vieques Air Link than Air Culebra. Are you sure?
