Hola,

Planning to visit P.R. in mid May. Would like to visit Culebra for 3 days or so.
Activities enjoyed:
snorkeling
hiking/outdoors
beach
photography
culture

What's the best way to get to island, where to stay (cabin or 1 level above camping)

Please leave advice, comment, etc. Meanwhile I'm going to dig deeper on the islaculebra.com

Serge

This island is excellent for the activities that you mention, you'll have plenty of satisfaction of your achievements in those areas.
You can get there either by ferry, or by plane. Plane costs are higher, but get you faster, and you do not have to move through crowds as in the ferry.
Ferry schedules are mostly the same every day, FAJ/CUL 0900/0930, 1300/1330, and CUL/FAJ 0630, 1100/1130, and 1500/1530.

Thank you Capt. I'm going to be spending a few days on North/East side of P.R. What are some differences Culebra from Vieques? I wish to visit both places, but won't have time.

Culebra is smaller, but in my opinion is even more beatiful.
You will find you have fallen in love, life goes with a slow pace, everything takes time. Its beaches provide not only good swiming, or snorkeling, they provide something that cannot be valued or expressed. If there try to get a boat to take you to Culebrita and La Pela, and visit PLaya Flamenco too.

Vieques is beatiful too, but it has more commerical activity, and it may give you the feeling of being in a larger city. It has great beaches too, like La Chiva ( BLUE BEACH ), SUN BAY, Punta Arenas ( Green Beach ), Playa Navio, Media Luna, and they have tours to the Bioluminicent Bay.
Vieques has almost 10,000 residents, while Culebra is almost 2000.

There is a high speed ferry ATHENA, servicing SJU, CUL, VIE. The trip takes less than two hours, and the price seem very reasonable.
I believe there is a post here in regard to ATHENA.
