We've rented bikes from Dick and Cathie. They rent Specialized bikes, great for the hills and back roads. It does take a little more time than driving, and the roads are narrow and sometimes steep, but there are some pluses also. Not having to search for a parking spot in town, for example, and being able to get into Soldado, and not being tied to the publico schedule. Bring a daypack for carrying lunches, water, etc., and a headlamp or two in case you miscalculate and find yourself out after dark. Dick keeps a supply of old inner tubes to tie your gear onto your bike. Plan your shopping trips so you don't have to carry too much at a time, and carry plenty of water, and you will be fine. Dick meets his customers at the ferry dock, gives you a tour of town, and takes you to your lodgings. In our case he also came and picked up the bikes, and gave us a ride to the ferry dock in order to catch the 6:30 a.m. ferry.
