Snorkeling Day Trip Recommendation??
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello,

My lady and I are visiting in November. Any recommendations for a day trip of snorkeling that is close to the ferryport. We don't want to travel far to get as much time as possible. What is the risk of jellyfish? Any warnings/recommendations on mosquitoes?

Cheers,
happs

Check out Melones. You walk into town from the ferry, take your first left, and follow the road to the end.

Agree. Malones is one of the best snorkels in Culebra and is the least known. You can walk. And the view on the way is almost as great as the snorkel. I have not heard of any risk of jellyfish at all. But you do have to watch for sea urchens as you enter the water. As far as mosquitos go, of course there will be some. Don't worry, they don't snorkel... But bring you can buy some OFF at the store when you arrive.

take a publico to Flamenco and hike over to Rosario (go left to the end of the parking lot) - absolute best snorkel and isolated, ignore the unexploded ordnance signs on the fence and stay to the road. 20 minute walk over the ridge.
