Plans messed up by last minute cancellation - help us find accomidations please?

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jon and I've been browsing these forums frequently for the last couple of months. I'm in a desperate situation right now because me and my girlfriend have our hearts set on visiting Culebra (also have plane tickets and car rental reservations). I made the mistake of buying a KGBDeals (like groupon) voucher for a 2 night stay at Costa Bonita Villas. I thought I had reservations for May 14th and 15th up until about 15 minutes ago when I received a call from the company saying the "merchant has filed for bankruptcy" - My birthday is May 13th, I've had these plane tickets for myself and my girlfriend (its our first real vacation, this villa stay was a gift for her for valentines day)... and now I don't have a hotel reservation. I am getting refunded the $140 for the voucher... can anyone recommend a decent and most importantly *reliable* place to stay? We don't need anything with frills, just a quiet room where we can check in and lay our heads and wake up to do some beach time and snorkeling. ANY input at all is appreciated, thank you so much!

My favourite place to stay is Melones Beach House. It is, as they say, "rustic". There is a small galley kitchen and it is a 10 minutes walk into town. But, it is about 50 feet from the beach and about 2 minutes from Melones beach where the snorkeling is great. As far as I can tell, it is available for those dates. On the other hand, if you are looking for a hotel or B&B, it won't suit.

Thank you for the reply. I should have given our budget... id like to stay under 100 a night, originally we had only planned on spending 140 for both nights, so as it is were digging into activity fund to now make up the diifference. Has anyone heard of or stayed at Casa Resaca? Not necessarily looking for a hotel experience, but cleanliness and perhaps a bit of personable service would be nice(clean sheets, diirections) are there any B&B's that are recommendable? Thank you!

Seriously, how many times has that placed filed bankruptcy? Click on Shelter over on the left, and search by $ sign. Palmetto, Villa Fulladoza, Casita Tropical, Kokomo, Casa Ensenada and Villa Boheme are all quite affordable, although $100/night is pretty low.

Happy Diving!
Debbie

In addition to the places Debbie mentioned, Posada La Hamaca has rooms to fit your needs for under $100. Casita Tropicale's owners are very good at interacting with first-time visitors and if you are interested, they will show you many of the places/activities that veteran visitors enjoy. The Palmetto is a beautiful guesthouse with romantic touches, in a quiet residential neighborhood.

Glad you got your refund. Now, relax and enjoy Culebra!

Thank you so much! I've placed inquiries to a lot of the places you have all listed, just deciding on location and price to best fit our plans, thanks again, I cannot wait! :)
