Culebra Ferry
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi guys, I am trying to take the ferry from Fajardo to Culebra on March 9. I will have my rental car (not planing on driving it a lot just wanted a place to lock up my stuff during the day since we are camping) so I've heard that I will need a reservation. HOWEVER I have called every number provided for the ferry boat, both here on this website and is my guide book and nobody ever answers...ever! Does anyone have any advise??

If you plan to bring a rental on the ferry, I believe you'll be in violation of your rental contract for every rental company I've heard of in PR. Better bet is to get a publico or van taxi from SJU to Fajardo, take the ferry across and rent from a Culebra operator. My personal choice is Jerry; his bangers are reliable, less expensive, and if you encounter an overhanging acacia thorn, you'll not get dinged an arm and a leg, like you would with the companies that rent the shiny new cars. Dick and Cathy's Things are fun, but they don't lock.

Thanks for the advise but I already have to rent a car on the mainland since I am going to be there for several days prior to going to Culebra.

Good morning,
As others have mentioned, it is generally in violation of the rental agreement to take a rental car on the ferries. Additionally, priority is given to commercial vehicles & residents-which is essentially the purpose of the cargo boat.

There is a secure lot where you can park your rental vehicle in Fajardo for aprox. $5/day.

Best,
Terrie
