organic food?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

This may be a crazy question, but I was wondering if there is anywhere on the island to get organic groceries like dairy, fruits and vegetables and meat.

Thanks! Katya

There is a health food store on the island. Last month, I found Fage yogurt, Applegate Farms bacon, and a couple of days, they had local cooking greens available. They also carry plenty of healthy dry goods and canned goods that are organic. Other than that, the grocery stores are hit and miss on canned/frozen organics only.

Great! Thanks! Good yogurt is key.
Were the prices crazy? I was thinking of bringing dry stuff, like rice, pasta and oatmeal from the US.

Thaks!

Yes, the prices are more than what you will pay in the States, but please consider that you are contributing to the local economy, which desperately needs it, and EVERYthing must be imported. It costs more to get the product there, thus the mark-up.

Fage yogurt was $6 for a 3-serving tub (18 oz.?). Applegate bacon was $6 too, I think. They have nuts and seeds too.
