Visiting Culebra Weekend Before Easter
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I came to Culebra last March and LOVED it! We are coming back this year but we have to go the weekend before Easter (April 15 - April 19). Can anybody tell me if it's going to be packed?

I have talked to folks at Carlos Jeep and they said that it will be busy but not nearly as busy as Easter weekend. Someone from Mamacitas said that it will be slow until April 21, then it will be packed. I don't want to be there if the beaches are going to be packed with campers and if the island is going to be packed with families/kids.

Can anyone tell me what to expect the weekend before Easter? Thanks!!!

We were there last year during the week before Easter, leaving Culebra on Good Friday on the 6:30 a.m. ferry. It was busier than the previous year, but not excessively so. Most people were at Flamenco, but it still wasn't "packed" in relation to many Carribean or Florida beaches. Zoni was sparsely populated the days we were there, and if you are the adventurous type you can always try Resaca or Brava for extreme privacy.

I suspect the ferries will be pretty packed going over to Culebra on the 15th, though. We took the first ferry over on Friday (a week before Good Friday) and it was very full.
