ferry reservations?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

No one is answering the telephone at the ferry office, which I take it is normal. Is there another way to make a reservation? How likely is it that we would get to the ferry Tuesday morning and not be able to get on?

We are heading to Culebra Feb 11!! So excited!! We want to hit all the snorkle beaches and were thinking a bike may be good transportation. Dont mind "toughing it" but want to get around With an arrival time of noon in SanJuan...we need to get to the ferry for the 3pm departure... I would like to call "Marys husband"(I have his name somewhere) 787-863-8224 to reserve a ride to Fajardo....that should be enough time correct? Do we need a reservation for the ferry? I am soooo looking forward to this trip!! Any other pertinent info would be appreciated.

If you are reasonably fit a bike should do just fine. Carlos Rosario, Melones, Punta Soldado and Tamarindo are all a reasonable bike ride and offer great snorkeling. Zoni is the longest ride, and the hills are steep, but doable. It's not a snorkeling area, though. Dick and Cathie rent Specialized bikes and Dick will meet you at the ferry docks to take you and your stuff to wherever you are staying and drop off the bikes. He'll also give you a quick tour of town and give you helpful tips.

If your flight gets in on time and you have a driver waiting at SJU to take you to Fajardo in theory you should make it in time. We have tried to get ferry tickets ahead of time before from John's Publico and he hasn't been able to get them; the line for the first ferry in the morning is usually very long and we have stood in line over an hour. Maybe the lines are shorter in the afternoon due to fewer day-trippers from the main island, but you may be cutting it close.

Good afternoon,
It is not worth the time trying to call as they generally do not answer the phone.

We offer the service of advance purchase tickets (& mail them to them) for our guests, thus ensuring that they have a r/t ticket in hand.

Good luck,
Terrie
