What is the situation with Air Flamenco?

Called last week to make flight reservation to Culebra as we've done for the past several years. They say they are not flying anything except charter flights. Does anyone know what is going on? They said it has something to do with FAA.

This blog seems to think it has to do with giving business to Cape Air:

I saw someone in another post talking about how the situation will change in January. Is this part of the supposed Cape Air caper? Air Flamenco's site already seems down.

It's a shame because they had a good price and I found them easy to deal with, even thought the last time they lost my reservation and then my luggage.

Good morning,
Although FLA had been flying for years in the islands (CUL & VQS) providing a valuable, & much needed service, the FAA was made aware that they were operating scheduled flights with a charter service license.

This situation did not have to do with safety, but with licensing. Everyone is hoping that it can be resolved & that FLA will again be able to fly between San Juan & Ceiba & Culebra with scheduled, affordable flights.

Meanwhile, Vieques Air Link is the only airline option with SCHEDULED flights for now.

Thanks for all the info. FLA has been very good and easy to deal with. I hope it is resolved soon.
