Planning my first trip to Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I have bought my tickets from San Diego to San Juan!!!

I am arriving in San Juan on the 5th of April, staying the night, more than likely in Old San Juan.

I am planning to use Air Flamenco for my trip to Culebra on the 6th. I want to stay on the island until the 12th and fly back to Old San Juan.

Any suggestions on where I should stay on Culebra?? I am looking for something less than $100 a night.

Couple Questions-
What are the best places to snorkel there??
It is turtle nesting season in April, what will I get to see and where?
How is the weather during the timeframe that I will be there(6-12 April)?
Any "Must See's" while I am on Culebra??

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel,
You are halfway there!! As for 100.00 a night, here you get what you pay for. I recommend Bahia Marina at 178.00 a night but it’s worth it. Great Views, great rooms with kitchens and New AC units. My wife and I own several Acres here and we visit 5 months out of the year and have rented several places and have learned the hard way. Places were Ok but comfort and views are important for us. Try Culebra Island realty Web site "Jim" is the owner. As for snorkeling Flamenco Beach outer reef, enter the water at the Tank on the beach and swim out past the channel you will arrive at the reef Awesome!! I do some spearfishing in this area. While there ask for a Young Guide by the name of Adan Feliciano he will take you to Tortuga beach on culebrita island. While there hike up to the lighthouse for incredible views of St. Thomas and Culebra. As for turtle season it’s hit or miss turtles do not have set schedules but you can see their nesting sites on Resaca beach.
My wife just reminded me of Camping on Flamenco Beach It's beautiful but remember it’s camping. Need more info lnduclos@hotmail.com

I suggest you call Vacation Planners at 787 742 3112 and tell them what you are looking for accomodation wise. They have a couple of places under 100 that are decent places. I've seen them. If you want more you will pay more. Check their site below for some ideas.

Daniel,

Try Palmetto Guest House. Their prices are around a $100 per night and the owners are great hosts. Here is their web address:

Villa Fulladoza is a great place and in your price range. My wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon and have been back three times since. Villa Boheme is also worth checking out. Both of these places are close to town but not right in town.
Melones is a nice, generally calm snorkeling spot close to town. Tamarindo, Tamarindo Grande, and Carlos Rosario are great as well. Punta Soldado is beautiful, but can be a bit of a challenge to get to. The best beach on a given day will be a matter of weather conditions (and how much walking you're willing to do).

My daughter and I stayed at Villa Boheme and we loved it. We rented a room with a balcony and a small fridge, for $145.00, but we used the community kitchen. The patio at Villa Boheme is beautiful and on the water. The smaller room at $107.00 would have been fine.
