Juanita Banana's...a different place
Culebra, Puerto Rico
Author: Mou (---.prw.net)

With 10 years of experience in the hotel & food & beverage industry this is what I have to say about the best experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant…..

Juanita Bananas is a different place; Culebra by itself is a different place!! There are always good and bad experiences but let the good experiences talk not the bad ones....that does not make any good for any business unless you want to harm it....

Everybody has always something to say, know about the 80/20 rule???? 80 people will look and talk about the bad things and only 20 will talk about the good ones….why? Because people are afraid to post good comments, because of the threads that can follow them…. Culebra is different, it is an island 15 miles away from the main island of Puerto Rico… sooooo food is not always on time, beverage is not always on time, fresh ingredients are not always available, but in Juanita Bananas they are.

When was the last time you had sushi? I dare you to compare Juanita’s to Tao’s in NY or Sushi Samba in Miami….try it. When was the last time you had FRESH SEAFOOD ….or so you think!!! Let me tell you, all restaurants in major hotels and metro area serve frozen seafood….yes frozen and they market it as “market price” BS…. on the other hand in Juanita’s is caught fresh daily…but this comments are not worth to talk about….right?

Yes there are cats that say hello and dogs too... but the iguanas in Mamacitas are not harmful…nahhhh they don’t bother you...or the smell of diesel at the Dinghy dock…nahhhh that doesn’t bother you either :-) because you are on an Island right??? Well welcome to Culebra!

Hey the economy is not getting better in Culebra, they are suffering as you are in your own business….they love what they do and that is to serve you, in a different place, a different experience…. so don’t become part of the problem, become part of the solution.

We've visted JB at least annually ever since its opening, and always found it to be a great experience. Jennifer is a wonderful person and a great chef, and we are looking forward to her return to the kitchen. (she recently took a break to start their family).

FYI, their sushi is terrific, and we have enjoyed the other dinner evenings as well. It is open air and is a beautiful setting, so we tend to not really mind the wandering animals, although stateside they would not be tolerated. We actually had more cat problems at mamacita's a few years ago, including my husband nearly kicking one into the water after it would not leave us alone.

I vote we rename this site www.JuanitaBanansReviews.com and create another one for the island.

Another shill for juanita banana's.

Really, can't they just buy a banner ad or something and pay for their advertising, as misleading as it may be?

Tracy,
I'm glad you love Juanita Banana's as that ensures I won't run into your husband at dinner. Please ask him to refrain from kicking cats in public, because if I were to see him "nearly" kick one onto the water I would probably "nearly" lose my temper.

Hi Everyone,

I've read good and bad reviews on this forum about Junaita Banana's - I like to try things for myself and be the judge of whether it's good or bad. If I listened to every movie critic that said a movie was bad, I would have missed out on alot of awesome movies that I've seen- the same with restaurants - everyone's experience is different - I'd rather try it for myself - my uncle also knows one of the cook's that works there (don't remember the cook's name) and he told me it was a great place to eat. So what if the food takes a long time to come out - your on an island and that's to be expected - what's the hurry?? have another drink!!!!

So, I will try this place for myself when I go next June and come to my own conclusions!

when a restaurant allows cats to nearly take food off your plate - they deserve to have their cats end up in the drink. And I invite you to try to confront my husband on the issue -- hope you bring your towel.

Gee, Tracy, you two sound like a lovely couple...NOT!

I don't imagine you confront your husband much...clearly
he's trained you not to...have the bruises healed yet?

Sweetheart, for me to put my full name on this post, I obviously am quite confident of my abilities. Rest assured that lack of a towel has never harmed me in the past.

What the Sam Hill is wrong with you people. Ya'll need to find somewhere else to vacation. Culebra is not for you. This island is for peace, quiet and relaxation, not for rude, chest/breast thumping, impatient, hurry-up and serve me, whiny ass cry babies. It is one of the last gems within a days travel of the USA. Please don't ruin Culebra for those of us who love it. There are lots of resorts that will cater to all of your whims. Go there and leave us alone.

I once went to a Jimmy Buffett type bar in Indian Shores FL. There were many cats wandering in and out and you did not eat the "nuts" out in bowls on the bar. After one taste you would discover they were actually cat food.

Let me wife alone. You are the bully here. Keep the cats away from my dinner plate. it is not too much to ask. If you want to threaten me, go ahead. We are a nice peaceful couple, and have enjoyed good people on Culebra since 1993, but we do not have to "tolerate" wild animals competing for our food, and why would you think we should?
