We are planning a trip to Culebra in July. Can anyone tell me about Club Seabourne as a place to stay? Thanks, Lisa

Dear Lisa:
Club Seabourne is a nice place to stay. I have a pool and the natural view of the ocean. It is also a great place for hiking and walking. It is a little far for the town but the owner will help you with transportation. If you want to go to the Flamenco Beach, you may have to go early and bring plenty of water bottles, because is HOT, HOT and dry. The food is delicious and they are many places in town to eat without spending too much $$$. But when you go to Culebra Island you will love it and you will like to keep going all the time.
Enjoy your staying and good luck
Luz

I just forgot to mention, there is a hotel in the town name Villa Boheme. It is only $100/per night. It is walking distance to town (30 second). Also there is Villa Fulladoza. Find more info in Culebra.net
Good luck

Lisa:

Club Seaborne is more of a mainland America sort of place. Boheme is nice also consider Posada la Hamaca. 787-742-3516 Bothe are more in keping of the bohemian style of the island.

If you compare prices between club seabourne and other restaurants in town you don't wants to wise your money at club seabourne the food is good sometimes the services is the worst service you can expect from a restaurant wants to pretend that they are a 5 stars restaurants when the service is not even compare with burger king, to spend $50.00 per person as i did with my family .

Does Villa Boheme or Posada La Hamaca are better places to stay in Culebra than Tamarindo Estates or Club Seabourne.??? Are they to far
from Town?? I am waiting for experiences and recomendations.
I asked for rates & availabilitys in Villa Boheme , and never
receive any response.

Alguien me podria informar:

- Costo del traslado en bus desde San Juan hasta Fajardo.
- Frecuencia de este servicio.
- Desde que lugar de San Juan se toma ese bus.
- Cuanto demora en realizar ese tramo.
- Ademas del ferry q une Fajardo – Culebra, hay algun otro bote alternativo q realice ese tramo, si lo hay; cual es su costo y se tiempo en realizar el trayecto ?

Saludos y muchas gracias

i stayed at club seaborne very recently on a trip to puerto rico and culebra. i went there with a friend who lives in san juan who thought this would be a wonderfully romantic trip. take a tip from us and fly both ways - about $20.00 each way. the ferry is about $2.50 but the nooise and chaos (and 2 hour delay at fajardo) is not worth the effort. seaborne had been highly recommended by someone he knew. it could be an amazing place. the hotel itself is fine, as is the bar and the pool. gardens well tended. the service, however, is not what one would expect from the prices chaged. hassles with rooms, no towels, room not cleaned. such a pity. i wish i could run it for 6 months!! no phones in rooms - only 'public' phone is at reception and it's not always available. no internet. but we had an excellent meal in the restaurant there. barman (kevin) is great fun.
however, the beaches were amazing (bravo and flamenco) though we did hit them before the easter weekend break. lots of youngsters camping at flamenco.
transport from port (if you go by ferry) to anywhere is non existent unless it's pre-booked. someone could make a fortune with a few buses or taxis, or even a snack/sandwich shop at the ferry too. no public phone at the ferry either to call a taxi.
dont get me wrong - i think the island is an amazing place and would definitely go back.
someone with some money to spare could certainly do worse than set up something catering to the tourist trade.

Hello lisa. I was in club seabourne last february , the rooms are very nice the prices are very very high. the house keeping is very bad and the restaurant service is completly bad, i remember that executive cheft came to my table and he was wearing some brown sandels, it looked very discosting for somebody who was cooking your dinner. i remember i asked the general manager for the menu of the night and his answer was that he got nothing to do with the resaturant go to kitchen and ask for the menu. i hope if you will stay there to be prepare have a bad time.

We stayed in Posada la Hamaca and the place was great (it was my second time). Ginny is a real sweetheart of a lady, and they give you towels, a cooler and ice for the beach. They also let you use the outdoor shower for your last day. I will stay there again. You can't beat it for the price.

We went by Seaborne for a drink one night while we were in Culebra and the guy behind the bar was a real A-hole. We sat there for FIFTEEN minutes waiting to be served, even making eye contact, while he hung out at the other end of the bar laughing with a couple of his buddies. We were the ONLY people at the bar besides his pals!!! The waiter (dude with dreads) had to go behind the bar himself to get his drink order because the Boricua bartender was even ignoring him. We just got up and walked out and went back to Mamacita's. It was Saturday night, 3/27, and it was my only negative experience in Culebra during my two visits there. I hope the Seaborne people read this because the guy was overwhelmingly jerky.

We stayed at Posada for one week. We also found it to be a very nice place. Ginny is very friendly also. She offers free ice and clean beach towels when needed. There is a lot of traffic noise in the morning as the hotel is located right near the draw bridge but we didn't care. We also went to Club Seabourne one night. The service at the bar was good. The bartenders were very friendly. After looking at the prices on the menu we decided not to eat there. Instead we ate at Barbara Rosa's. The food was great! I was told she used to be the chef at Seabourne.
